When it comes to unlikely friendships, wildlife never ceases to amaze. In fact, a huge 450-pound gorilla sharing tender moments with a 0.5-pound wild galago is definitely worthy of attention.
More than 300 rescued animals live in Ape Action Africa, Cameroon. A nature reserve built to preserve and protect endangered primates such as gorillas, chimpanzees and monkeys. A gorilla named Bobo is one of the first residents of the center. The huge male arrived at the reserve when he was only 2 years old, after he lost his mother to poaching. And then Bobo was far from the strong dominant male he is now.
Despite being such a fearless creature, Bobo is also a gentle giant. And recently his tenderness struck even the guards of the reserve. During the morning checks, the guards couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw that Bobo was sharing a delightful moment with his new and most unusual friend galago.
«Our silver gorilla Bobo found a new amazing friend this week — a baby galago! This is stated in the Ape Action Africa Facebook post. «The caregivers found that he was lulling the little primate during morning checks, and were amazed to see how he treated him with extreme care.»
Most likely, the tiny creature lived in Bobo’s territory. But even so, it’s quite fascinating to see how he interacts so amicably with his giant neighbors. The galago cub showed no fear of Bobo. He moved around Bobo and spent time jumping on the open grass.
Galagos are usually nocturnal. Therefore, watching the cub, in the company of a gorilla in broad daylight, was even more amazing for the caretakers.
