This parrot sings no ordinary song. Be a witness to his masterful performance!

Like many parrots, this green budgie can perform in public and surprise listeners. But he is notable for his unusual singing. In this video, he sings a fragment from Mozart’s Magic Flute!

After a bit of vocal warm-up, Menino the parrot dazzles with the most painfully difficult notes of the Queen of the Night’s aria from Mozart’s The Magic Flute – and delivers more of them than is either required or humanly possible.

Menino, who was 15 at the time of the video, fires off a series of wonderfully bright notes, perfectly imitating the devilish fragment sung by the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s opera The Magic Flute.

“He learnt it very quickly,” says Menino’s owner, Celinha.

The feathered fellow does an impressive job of singing the big aria. He even manages a deliciously wide vibrato, around 0:45.

Sadly, Menino died a few years ago.

“He died of an unknown illness at the age of 15,” says Celinha. “He was my little friend and very special to me, so I am very sad.”

“Thank you all for the sweet messages and for appreciating this amazing parrot, Menino,” Celinha writes to her late pet’s fans.
