Amal Clooney moved her husband to tears with her performance at a party honoring the actor.

Amal and George Clooney attended a social event in Los Angeles. The couple’s appearance could be called ordinary, except for one thing: in the framework of the American Film Institute’s Lifetime Achievement Award, Amal spoke on stage for the first time. And she was talking about no one else but her husband, in whose honor the event was organized.

“It’s much easier for me to speak in court on behalf of an imprisoned person than it is to speak publicly about my husband, which I’m doing for the first time today. I’m incredibly proud of everything he’s accomplished,” Amal began.

“There are a few things you might not know about George. First of all, he’s a gentleman. He’s a gentleman to the core, and the fact that it’s very rare to find someone like that these days makes him maybe even a little bit old-fashioned.”

“Anyone who knows him, even those who disagree with his views on politics or have argued with him over professional niceties, will tell you that he hasn’t forgotten his Kentucky manners. Every time I visit the set, the crew tells me that George protects the weakest and most vulnerable.

Although George humbly attributes all of the success we celebrate here today to luck, I believe it was his incredible talent and character that got him here. All of these qualities also make George a wonderful husband and father. I met him when I was 35, and I was starting to get used to the idea that I was going to be an old maid. But then we got to know each other better and started hiding from everyone in my London apartment. I soon realized that no matter what, I never wanted to be with anyone but him.”

“I couldn’t sleep when we were apart. Someone told me that when I read his text messages or the letters he secretly put in my bag, I had a peculiar smile and a tilt of my head. It’s been 7 years and nothing has changed. He is a man I admire endlessly and also someone whose smile makes me the happiest person in the world. My darling, when I met you, I found the greatest love that I hope will last forever. And seeing you with our children Ella and Alexander is the greatest pleasure of my life.

You filled our home with laughter and happiness even before the kids knew Daddy was Batman, the talking fox and Mary Poppins’ friend. I am so proud of you, my darling. Congratulations on this award and the heights you have reached, the honors we give you today. I’m proud of you, but I also know that when our children know what you’ve done in your life and who exactly you are, they will be just as proud of you,” Amal said emotionally.

Guests of the event noted that George Clooney cried during the performance of his wife. Recall that the actor married Amal in the fall of 2014. Now the Clooney couple is raising two twins – Ella and Alexander. Despite the fact that the spouses no longer intend to have children, both tell in interviews that they are incredibly happy to spend time with family and take care of each other.
