Gianni Morandi and Adriano Celentano: one beautiful song, two legends on stage and a sea of enthusiasm in the audience

74 – year old Italian singer and actor Adriano Celentano in 2012 gave 2 grandiose concerts after an 18-year break. The venue for the Italian pop-rock legend’s performance was no less grandiose – the Arena di Verona, an ancient Roman circus-amphitheater of the 1st century AD, which in the 20th century became the stage of the famous classical opera festival.

Tickets for the concert went on sale and were sold out in half an hour. And more than half of the tickets were sold for a symbolic price – just 1 euro per ticket. According to Celentano himself and his wife, Claudia Mori, such a decision was made to ensure that the concert could get as many people as possible, regardless of their financial situation. The maximum ticket price was 165 euros.

The grandiose concerts given by Celentano in Verona were full houses. The stands of the legendary Arena di Verona, with a capacity of 20,000 thousand spectators, were full.

74-year-old Celentano showed that he still sings masterfully and retained his signature style of movement on stage, for which he was once nicknamed “mollegiato” (on springs). Although he admitted:

“It wasn’t easy to prepare for this concert, I couldn’t remember the words, 18 years is a long time.”

Adriano Celentano invited his old friend and colleague – 68-year-old Gianni Morandi – as a guest on stage. This man is considered a kind of monument to Italian history. He was forever a young boy with a smile on his face. This became a symbol of Italian culture of the sixties. Gianni Morandi has never been forgotten.
