A mother named Nicky Maher from Somerset, Massachusetts decided to secretly film her daughter’s babysitter and now the video is going viral for all the good reasons. 18-year-old Delaney Wilson, who takes care of Maher’s child while she works, is a talented young woman with a charming voice.
The problem is that she is too shy to show the world her singing skills as she doesn’t think she sounds that good. One day, when Maher walked into the house and heard the captivating melody of Disney’s song “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid, she just knew she had to capture this beautiful moment. As the recording begins, Maher can be heard whispering, “This is our babysitter.” As Maher quietly enters the room, Wilson, unaware that she is being filmed, lets her voice flow.
Her singing becomes more powerful and impressive, and Maher can’t contain her emotions. Speaking to Fox News, Maher explained that she already knew the babysitter’s voice before filming her. “I thought, I want her to hear herself when she knows no one is watching. I was moved to tears when I heard her sing for the first time. So I said, Delaney, you have an incredible talent.” Maher wanted to know why Wilson doesn’t sing more often and in front of other people.
“That’s when she said to me, ‘I just overthink things and I never feel like I sound good enough and I don’t always feel confident in my appearance,'” Maher explained. “And that broke my heart.” Maher asked Wilson if she had permission to post the video on TikTok, and Wilson agreed. In no time, it went viral and caught the attention of a large number of people. “It’s not that she didn’t know she had a talent that a lot of people had already acknowledged for her,” Maher said. “It’s that she didn’t hear it without knowing that she was trying or that someone was watching.
