A tragic road accident occurred on Friday, August 19, around 5:30 p.m. on the D9 near Puilboreau. A 37-year-old man from Dompierre-sur-Mer lost his life. He was travelling alone in his vehicle when the impact occurred.
The collision, which was particularly violent, involved three vehicles and caused several injuries. Among the victims, four people suffered minor injuries while a 98-year-old man was seriously injured. All those affected were quickly taken to La Rochelle hospital to receive the necessary treatment.
The exact circumstances of the accident are currently under investigation. During the emergency services’ operation, traffic on the D9 was completely closed.
A total of 23 firefighters were mobilized to secure the zone and assist the victims. This tragedy highlights the importance of increased vigilance on the roads, especially in areas with heavy traffic or difficult driving conditions.
