A woman saw a “dead dog” that she wanted to bury: but suddenly the dog tried to get up

Rescuers heard about a rail-thin dog named Peanut wandering the streets. She would lie in the middle of the road or sidewalk, too weak to move. It was a devastating thing to see.

When volunteers first saw Peanut, they were in awe that she was still alive. Every bone in her body showed. Her skin was completely furless from severe mange.

It looked like she hadn’t had a good meal in a very long time yet she held on and fought to live.

One woman even put a body bag in her car in case the dog already passed away by the time she got there.

Rescuers carefully lifted her up and took her to a veterinary clinic. It seemed that Peanuts would not survive. But when the results of her biopsy came, the rescuers were delighted. She tested negative for canine distemper, and everything else can be cured. Despite her appearance, Peanuts will be fine with proper care.

Peanut’s immune system was in terrible shape and there was no way she could be around other sick animals.

The rescue reached out to Mike and Joy, who have fostered other dogs, and they came to meet Peanut. She was surely craving love and affection.

The couple brought Peanut home. They were instructed on how to feed her so she would put on weight but not overeat and get sick.

Peanut then meets Mike and Joy’s other dog and she cannot wait to play with him.

The couple closely documents Peanut’s days and in a week, she has put on a healthy amount of weight. She’s still so thin but she looks so much better!

Even her fur is coming in, in certain spots, from treating her mange with medicated baths.

In three weeks, the couple brings Peanut back to the vet for a checkup and the entire staff is all smiles. Her progress is incredible. It’s like looking at a different dog!

She hasn’t just gained weight, she’s gained confidence. Having a home has really made Peanut feel safe. She never had meals she could count on nor people who gave her the time of day.

Now she had both!
