This morning I was travelling in a minibus on the Lviv-Morshin route, passing through Stryi. When we arrived at Stryi Central Station, we stopped and a middle-aged woman approached the driver. She seemed agitated and in a hurry.
“Excuse me,” he said, “could you take my mother to the hospital?” She is old, sick and feels very ill. The hospital is right on your route. I am ready to pay you any amount.
The driver frowned for a moment and watched the woman intently. His answer left everyone in the minibus speechless.
“Sure, I’ll take it, but I don’t want any money,” he said, “keep it to help your mother.”
There was silence in the minibus and we all felt the warmth of this unexpected gesture of kindness.
When we arrived at the hospital, the woman thanked the driver with a sincerity that touched each of us.
– Thank you so much! – he said, shaking hands with the driver.
He smiled and replied:
– I must thank you. May God bless your mother and give you the strength to face this situation.
