Bad news: The famous comedian and actor died today in his home

It often hurts so much when loved ones pass away, but it’s no less painful when we say goodbye to our favorite stars… Many people loved comedian and actor Martin Mull. He has passed away at the age of 80, his family announced. Maggie Mull, Mull’s daughter, posted the sad news on Instagram, explaining that her father died at his home “after a courageous battle with a long illness.”

“He was known for excelling in every creative discipline imaginable, including advertising for Red Roof Inn,” she told us. “That joke made him laugh. He was always funny. My dad will be greatly missed by his friends, colleagues, artists, comedians, musicians, and most of all, many dogs.

He will also be greatly missed by his wife and daughter. I loved him very much.” He also played the role of private investigator Gene Parmesan on the series Arrested Development. Mull received his first and only Emmy nomination in 2016 for his role as Bob Bradley in Veep. Mull had many different jobs throughout his career. For example, in 1985 he collaborated with Fred Willard and wrote the mockumentary The History of White People in America.

He loved writing songs and making people laugh. In the early 1970s, country star Jane Morgan recorded his song A Girl Named Johnny Cash, a parody of A Boy Named Sue. This song spent five weeks on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs.
