Paul Skinner, a 58-year-old man, was riding his bike with some of his friends. They noticed something strange moving in a roadside ditch as they walked down a more isolated section of the road. They decided to get a closer look to see what was going on. As they approached, they saw a frightened, seemingly abandoned dog trying to shield a sack in its jaws. However, the men were surprised when they opened the bag. Inside the bag were four dead puppies.
The puppies appeared to have been born on the same day. Afraid of what they had seen, the men immediately contacted the police. They were joined by representatives from an animal shelter, who took the puppy and named it Carly. Authorities came to the conclusion after doing some research that Carly had been left in this ditch with her puppies after giving birth.
Carly never left her babies’ side, even after their owner abandoned them, but it seems she couldn’t free them from the tightly secured plastic bag. We can only hope that Carly’s owner is caught and made to pay for this heinous act. He has committed acts of extreme cruelty. He didn’t just leave the mother and puppies. in an effort to deny them life, he also placed them in a plastic bag with knots. He gave them the death penalty.
Unfortunately there are more and more cases of abuse and abandonment of animals. Stronger penalties and stricter legislation are needed for the people who commit these crimes. We can only hope that Carly will find a loving home and get the care she needs. She is a brave woman who chose to stay with her pups until the end, despite the heat and the lack of food or water.
