Clever 6-year-old boy saved his diabetic grandfather by observing his habits

Aiden Smith is only 6 years old, but fortunately, he knows how to use the blood sugar test kit from his smart watch.

When Clark had a hypoglycemic attack, Aiden took the test kit and checked his grandfather’s sugar levels.

The meter showed only 1.0, but the boy didn’t panic. He started feeding Clark candy, and fortunately, the elderly man’s sugar level rose to 3.6. What a relief!

«Aiden had watched me measure my blood sugar every day, so he knew how to use it.

Then he ran and got Jelly Babies and quickly put a couple in my mouth. He was very calm. It took me about ten minutes to come to my senses,» Clark said.

Family members were indeed very surprised and shocked to hear about Aiden’s amazing heroic act.

«I’m very proud, he really saved my life,» the elderly man said.

«I was really shocked. I couldn’t have done anything even if I knew what was going on because I wasn’t home,» Clark’s wife Sandra added.

Smith’s mother, Haley Farren, mentioned that everyone in the house really knew how to use the test kit, since they had watched Clark measure his blood sugar for years. But this was really the first time anyone had actually done it. Smith’s savvy saved his grandfather.

«I don’t think Aiden even realized how important what he did was. He saved his grandfather’s life. He definitely would have been in a coma if not for Aiden,» Farren said.

When I asked him about it, he just said: «Mom, I just knew what I had to do.»

«He’s such a sweet, loving little boy. He always thinks of others more than himself. I think it’s very important for children to know a few basic things about how to react in an emergency. It can save a life,» the woman added.

Such a smart little boy. Good job, Aiden!
