Creating a legend: archive photos from the set of Titanic

James Cameron’s film «Titanic» can safely be called a legend. In its time it earned 11 Oscar statuettes and endless love of audiences around the world. It is not possible to watch it without tears, even if you watch it for the tenth time.

But it’s still interesting to see what was behind the scenes. A little digging on the Internet, we found some archive photos from the set, and today we share them with you.

The movie was filmed in the 90s, at that time there were not very cool computer graphics and special effects. That’s why expensive sets were made for realism, and there was a minimum of graphics.

Cameron is a director who is often in the frame of his work. And all because he is always side by side with the actors, he controls their every movement, every look and even the hand placement. James is a real perfectionist.

Many scenes in the film were shot in water. And in order for the actors to feel all the emotions, the water was really icy. And then they all warmed up in the pool with warm water so they wouldn’t get sick.

Even though the film itself is dramatic, there was always a pretty friendly and positive atmosphere on the set.
