Former man wins Miss America beauty pageant

Gender reassignment man Brian Nguyen became the first transgender man to win a beauty pageant under the auspices of Miss America.
“He won the title of Miss Greater Derry,” the publication writes.
The winner of the pageant is awarded a Miss Greater Derry Scholarship.

“My name is Brian Nguyen, I am 19 years old, and I am currently in my first year at Nashua Community College majoring in Business Administration. I am thrilled to be the first transgender woman to win the local Miss America title,” Nguyen wrote on her personal blog.

The reaction of social media users to Brian’s victory was mixed.

“This is what misogyny really looks like,” “Yes, the Miss America pageant will no longer be about women, because men want to make us unimportant,” “He didn’t even make a pretty girl,” indignant women wrote on social media.

This week, the U.S. Court of Appeals agreed that the Miss United States organization cannot be forced to include transgender contestants because it interferes with expressing “an ideal vision of American womanhood.”
