Her husband told her to get rid of the dog: “It’s either me or the dog!” So she posted this message, which silenced the man she had been with for 25 years

If you love dogs, there’s not much that can separate you from your beloved fur babies. Adopted animals, big and small, very quickly become family members – whether you want them to or not.

Liz Haslam had a close bond with each of her dogs, and she had many. Liz did a great job rescuing bull terriers. She used half an acre of land for a boarding kennel next to the two-bedroom farmhouse in Barnham, Suffolk, that she shared with her husband Mike. The dogs themselves were often abandoned or had behavioral problems. Her organization, Beds for Bullies, can take in up to 30 bull terriers at a time.

These dogs need a lot of love and attention – so much so that Liz spends up to 18 hours a day caring for them, walking them and spending hundreds of pounds on their medication and treatments.

Fed up with this situation, Mike gave her an ultimatum, according to Express: it’s either him or the dogs.

25 years of marriage and a 22-year-old son were not enough to convince him to stay with her and the dogs.

For Liz, the decision was simple: it was the dogs – 100%. She couldn’t give up what made her happy and helped the animals that needed her support. If she didn’t look after them, who would?

She explained: “I haven’t seen him or heard from him again. I thought that after 25 years he should know that I had no intention of giving up the dogs.”

“He had reached a point where he had had enough and wanted to take it easy. But I wasn’t ready to give that up. So he decided to leave,” she added.

They met at 16 and fell in love. In January 1991 they married and Liz was convinced she was marrying the love of her life. She never thought it would end like this.

But she seems to be looking at the challenge in a positive light. She may have lost her husband, but she can still do what makes her happy!

We would never force anyone to choose between their partner and their passion – it’s not fair! We think Liz made the right decision for herself and the dogs in need. If you agree, let us know!
