This old chest of drawers had been in my grandmother’s house for many years. Over time, its appearance had suffered greatly: the paint had peeled off, and the legs had become wobbly. I decided it was time to renovate it! The result was truly magnificent!
When my grandmother sold her house and moved to a new one, I asked her to keep a few things. Among them were two chests of drawers and old armchairs that I wanted to keep.
Along with them, my grandmother also took other things to her new home – favorite dishes, rugs, paintings, and many personal items. All this was carefully stored in my mother’s attic.
In the summer, when we went to visit with my family, I decided to take care of one of the chests of drawers. It had already lost its original appearance, but I saw great potential in it. I started by completely removing the old coating. It was not an easy task, but I enjoyed every step, imagining how the chest of drawers would look in the end.
At that point, I decided that the best way to renovate it would be to paint it a new color and replace the legs and handles. I chose a light pastel shade and found vintage handles to preserve its old-fashioned character. I replaced the legs with more modern ones to add stability and lightness to the chest of drawers.
When the work was finished, I felt proud of the result. The chest of drawers not only regained its former attractiveness, but became a real decoration of the room. This was my first experience in furniture renovation, and it turned out to be incredibly inspiring!
For beginners, such projects are a great start: they do not require much effort, but help you understand the basic principles of working with furniture and give you a sense of satisfaction from the job done.
