Like people, animals also have different personalities and destinies.
Bertha, whom we’re talking about today, was a very noble dog. He’s a large, bushy-haired bastard who took many of his disadvantaged siblings under his wing. When they were fed by caring people, he let them eat first… But in the end, he was lucky…
That winter was cold, with severe frost, blizzards, and freezing rain. Judging by her appearance, Bertha is a cross between a German Shepherd and a mongrel, with soft, curly hair and a fluffy tail. Every evening, she waited for her benefactors to feed her. Of course, stray dogs in the area weren’t treated very well; they were frightened and chased away, but not all of them.
Bertha is a very friendly and grateful dog, very affectionate despite her imposing appearance. At the sight of the girl still carrying food for him, he broke free and ran to “kiss.” The volunteers’ plans included rehoming all the stray dogs in the area, but unfortunately, there was no room at the shelter. All the girl could offer was food, kindness, and affection.
One morning, as she was about to feed the dogs, the young girl saw Bertha, and her heart sank… The dog was so miserable, with wet, frosty fur, puddles everywhere, and wet snow falling from the sky.
The girl couldn’t leave the dog on the street. She began to persuade Bertha to go to the entrance from which she was always chased away. The dog wasn’t wearing a collar, and it was quite difficult to convince the 30-kilogram animal to follow her.
The dog, however, was able to trust the girl and went in. The girl’s mother was shocked, to say the least, but Bertha tried her best to please the hostess. He happily performed a simple “give me a paw” trick and blinked with delight as he was scratched behind his ear. Stimulated by the affection and warmth, Berta wasn’t even in a hurry to eat. He was washed, dried with dry towels, and allowed to sit under a blanket on a chair near the heater.
Tired and completely happy, the dog fell asleep, hugging the first toy of his life.
