The father froze, as if he couldn’t believe his eyes, until he heard a quiet groan – weak, but real. He fell to his knees, unable to hold back his tears.

His daughter, whom everyone had already mourned, was alive. The state of lethargic sleep, extremely rare and practically unnoticeable without deep diagnostics, misled the doctors. The girl was prematurely declared dead.
But how did Dakota know?
The answer was found later. It turned out that the dog was trained to detect the slightest changes in the girl’s breathing and pulse – she really did have attacks, during which her vital functions almost faded away.
Dakota had already saved her more than once, warning her parents before the ambulance arrived. And this time, at the moment when the doctors gave up, it was Dakota who realized that this was not death.
