This strange crust appears on a woman’s bed: nobody knows what it is.

A woman asked what the strange “crust” that had appeared on the bed in her room was. No one could understand it.

In 2014, a property owner in Winchester, Hampshire (UK) discovered a huge wasp nest in her guest room.

The nest, estimated to contain around 5,000 wasps, was almost a meter wide and 30cm deep and had been built on a beloved bed cover. John Birkett, a pest control specialist who has worked in the field for 45 years, was called to solve the problem.

He discovered that the wasps had eaten away at the bed and mattress. Although Birkett admired the nest as a “wonderful work of art”, he knew it had to be removed.

Despite his reluctance to kill the wasps, he managed to dismantle the nest, preventing further infestation. This particular case remains one of the most extraordinary encounters with wasps in his long career.
