A girl deaf from birth heard her mother for the first time

This is the first time a baby hears her mother’s voice, and then smiles, then freaks out, then surprises, then gets terribly upset. The range of emotions that are reflected on her face for a few seconds is simply amazing. It would be impossible to illustrate human feelings more vividly.

Two-month-old Charlotte (Charly) Keane smiles and appears to fight back tears as she is cradled by her mum Christy.

The newborn reacts with pure joy after being fitted with hearing aids and hearing her mum say «hello» and «I love you».

Christy wrote on Instagram: «Charly hears for the first time and hears me say ‘I love you’ for the first time!!!

«And she’s holding back happy tears and emotional as her mama.

«We had our miracle moment that I have been praying for when Char got her hearing aids today.

«We didn’t think she would hear anything so this was more incredible than I can put in to words.

«Her journey to implants and language development is off to an amazing start!»

The incredible moment was recorded by Christy’s partner Daniel.

As she begins to speak, Charlotte smiles and appears to fight back tears.

Christy says: «I’ve never seen that face before.

«Are you emotional? You’re going to make me cry. Are you going to be emotional like your mama?»

As the child smiles, she says: «You’re so sweet. I love you.»

Charlotte was born deaf  in August.

Her parents are planning to have her work with a speech therapist, and have her fitted with cochlear implants when she is old enough.
